Not far from WATL, at 740 Bismark Rd. NE, we find the studios of Atlanta's local public broadcasters, WPBA channel 30 and WABE 90.1. As the callsign suggests, like many big big-city non-comms, WABE was founded by -- and is still licensed to -- the Atlanta Board of Education. Atlanta also receives PBS service from the state-wide Georgia Public TV network, seen locally on Athens-licensed WGTV (channel 8), which we did not have an opportunity to visit during this trip.
