WQXI 790 towers

WQXI 790 towers

These towers -- one by day and four by night -- once belonged to Atlanta's legendary top-40 voice, WQXI. The station is still on 790, now with 28 kW daytime, but the music has long since given way to talk, and these days sports, on the Jefferson Pilot-owned station. The callsign was once shared with channel 11 (now WXIA). This photo was taken from the same Cheshire Bridge Road parking lot as the previous shot; WAFS, WQXI, WGKA, and WNIV all transmit from this same seedy neighborhood. (The diplexed WGKA/WNIV tower was too difficult for me to photograph and so is not shown here.)
