At the prompting of one Mr. Fybush, your editor decided to take a quick weekend trip up to Montreal to see what was widely expected to be the last ever Montreal Expos game at Olympic Stadium. Although I grew up in Northern Vermont and had made dozens of trips to Montreal back when it was relatively convenient to do so, I never managed to see any sort of sporting event at “The Big Owe” as Stade Olympique is colloquially known. (To my shame and great regret, I never managed to see a hockey match at the Forum, either, and now the hockey gods' shrine has been redeveloped into a shopping mall.)
Despite having grown up in Vermont, I never bothered to take any pictures of the place, even in recent years when I'd come back for business or pleasure travel. Since I had a several extra hours between the time I left Boston and the time I needed to be in Montreal to meet Fy, I took the opportunity to photograph many of the familiar -- and unfamiliar—places where the radio and TV I used to consume was produced. I hope at some point to make more return visits to catch up on other things that I missed, and places that aren't so familiar to me.
