CHWO's program director takes questions from the NRC audience. In particular, he explains how CRTC regulations make it impossible to do a true "standards" format, because there are so few standards recordings that meet Canadian Content regulations. So although they include a lot of standards in their playlist, they also include a great deal of what we in the States would call "gold AC" to meet their 35% CanCon requirement. The station's target demographic is women and men 45+; it was by arguing that this audience was significantly underserved in Toronto that CHWO was able to win the competitive proceeding for the 740 license.
