For a brief period in 2004 and 2005, my mother's company relocated her to Carlsbad, California. Spending Christmas vacation in Southern California was a bit of a novelty for me; unfortunately, the weather was not the perpetual “70 degrees and sunny” that San Diegans often lead others to believe. (It was mostly overcast and damp, with temperatures in the 50s, while I was there.) I rented a car, and had plenty of time to drive around and see the towers of SoCal. I returned again (although not to Carlsbad) in December, 2005, and in April, 2006, and as I write this in March, 2008, Scott and I are in the throes of planning yet another visit next month.
In planning my 2004 tour, I was greatly assisted by Scott's six-part (now seven-part) “We Love L.A.” series on Tower Site of the Week.
