Greater Boston, June, 2005
As previously described, Scott and I spent a
week traveling around New England, visiting all sorts of places we had
meant to get inside (or get back inside) and hadn't yet. Since I live
in Framingham, it was a natural to want to see my local AM
pests the home-town stations; thanks to Grady Moates we were
finally able to visit the 890/1060 site in Ashland (recently rebuilt
to accomodate the new 1060 night signal) and the 650/1060/1200 site on
Mount Wayte Ave. (across from the old town incinerator) in Framingham.
David Goldstein, the new assistant chief at WBZ, had lunch with us and
helped to arrange a visit out to the WBZ transmitter in Hull.
WBUR-FM's Mike LeClair showed off his new IBOC installation at FM-128.
Maurice Cohen demonstrated that nothing much had changed at WCAP since
Scott left more than a decade ago—not even the ownership. (We're
still a bit puzzled by the presence of Michael Savage on the schedule,
however.)
