Some things never change at 100 Mount Wayte Avenue in Framingham, and it appears that the welcome mat is one of them. Fairbanks Communications may have ceased to exist a decade ago, but Mr. Fairbanks's legacy continues, both inside and outside the building. Ironically, even when we visited in 2006, the WKOX studios were long gone from here; the station was running Air America programming in a simulcast with Clear Channel sister station WKXS (1430 Everett). A few months after our visit, WKOX and WXKS would flip to Spanish-language music as “Rumba”—and of course once the new Newton transmitter site is licensed, WKOX won't even maintain a transmitter here in its original home.
