When KSL switched from the “T” antenna to a vertical radiator back in 1939, the new tower—made by the Blaw-Knox company of Pittsburgh—was connected in a shunt-fed configuration. This was the tuning house at the base of the shunt feed's drop wire. The tower was jacked up and converted to a conventional insulated-base, series-fed configuration during the 1986 rebuild.
