The statue atop the Vermont state capitol's dome is entitled Agriculture, and depicts the Roman goddess of agriculture, Ceres. The current statue was carved by Dwight Dwinell in 1938 after the original work by Larkin Goldsmith Mead (a well-known sculptor of the nineteenth century and brother of New York architect William Rutherford Mead).
