KZZZ/KFLG towers

KZZZ/KFLG towers

[ Up | Prior ]

These three towers on Needles Highway in Laughlin were originally built for KLSQ (870 Laughlin). KLSQ built a synchro site in East Las Vegas (now Whitney), and then a few years back moved completely to the Whitney site—which covers a far greater population—and abandoned Laughlin. They didn't go to waste, however; the site has since been taken over by two Bullhead City stations, KFLG (1000) and KZZZ (1490), both of which used to transmit from the Arizona side of the river. (For what it's worth, when we and Scott's friend Rick Lucas visited KLSQ's current site in 2006, it was in an undeveloped part of the desert in Henderson, and did not even have utility power. If that part of Henderson hasn't been paved over yet, it probably won't be any time soon, with the real-estate bust hitting hard in Vegas.
