Inside the Bonneville building, on the right as you enter the front door are the KPKX (98.7C Phoenix) transmitters. Closest to the door is the backup, a Continental 816R-4B (serial number 857). A Varian Associates logo on the builder's plate indicates that it must have been made between 1985 and 1990, so it can't be the original 98.7 transmitter at this site. (And yes, that's a classic Continental 802 exciter in the rack next to the transmitter.)
