Have I mentioned that the Saturn V was the largest rocket ever built by any nation? It was 363 feet (110 m) tall; it's even longer in this exploded view. The first stage, as mentioned above, was built by Boeing with engines from Rocketdyne; the second stage, off in the distance, was built by North American Aviation and had five Rocketdyne J-2 engines. The third stage, not even visible in this photo, had a single J-2 engine and was built by Douglas Aircraft.
