Vermont Public Televsion studios

Moving right along, we continue on to Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester. (Actually, we stopped at the Christian Ministries studios in Essex Junction first, but those pictures too seem to have gone AWOL.) Our first stop is at the 88 Ethan Allen Ave. studios of Vermont Public Television (which I still like to think of as I knew it growing up, Vermont ETV). As we'll see, this was an ideal site for several Burlington-area broadcasters, owing to its easy line-of-sight access to Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak. VPT's flagship station, WETK (33 Burlington), is located on Mansfield, and the four other transmitters are fed via microwave from there. [Those four other stations are WVTA (41 Windsor), WVTA-DT (24 Windsor), WVTB (20 St. Johnsbury), and WVER (28 Rutland). In addition, translators W36AX Manchester and W53AS Pownal retransmit channel 41's signal.]
