This is 34 Beacon Street, not far from the State House, the former home of Little, Brown (which used to be “the other Boston publisher”). Little, Brown & Company was a legal publisher that later branched out into trade books, so the location near the center of state government makes some sense. (If I recall correctly, Little, Brown actually had the contract to print legal records of the state courts and legislature for some time in the nineteenth century.)
