We're now looking across Deercliff Road at the WUVN (18 Hartford) tower. Channel 18 was the original CBS station in Hartford, built at a time when the FCC was hard-pressed to give away UHF licenses, a distinction it quickly lost once WTIC-TV (channel 3) was built in the late '50s. After a period as an independent and some time as a subscription TV outlet, WHCT (as it then was) went dark amid mounting debts. The facility was eventually reactivated as a Univision outlet in the late '90s.
