FM bays: bigger than you thought

FM bays: bigger than you thought

WBUR-FM's room is in the basement of the FM-128 transmitter building. While looking around in the basement, we also saw this FM antenna sitting on the floor. (The red blob at lower right is a big fiberglass radome of an appropriate size to hold one of these bays.) To give some idea of the scale, the tips of those elements are about four feet off the floor in this picture. (A far cry from the low-power one- and two-bay jobs you can hold in one hand!)
