KUTR towers

KUTR towers

These are the six towers of KUTR (820 Taylorsville), at 5320 N 17200 W, outside of Cedar Fort. The Bonneville-owned station came on the air in 2005 with a talk format; in 2006 it switched to “Soft Sunday Sounds”—an LDS take on “contemporary Christian”. The facilities are 50 kW-D, 2.5 kW-N, with an unusual antenna mode: non-directional daytime, two towers during critical hours, and all six towers at night. Confusingly, this is listed as a DA-2 in the FCC database; in the National Radio Club's coding scheme, it's a U8. The towers are 255 feet tall, or rather less than a quarter wave.
