Our trip began with a short stop at the (rather non-photogenic) cell tower in Amesbury, Mass., which WNEF (91.7 Newburyport) calls home. We then proceeded to our first real stop, Citadel Communications' cluster of simulcasts on the New Hampshire seacoast. There are five stations, but only two program services: country giant WOKQ (97.5 Dover) with simulcast WPKQ (103.7 North Conway) and translator W250AB (97.9 Manchester), and classic rock "Shark" WSHK (105.3 Kittery, Maine)/WSAK (102.1 Hampton). As we shall see, this studio complex was built in the late '90s, replacing WOKQ's original studio building, still standing, about a hundred yards away.
