To start out the live portion of the WATD broadcast, Ed Perry interviewed David Wolfe. Wolfe's father was Fessenden's patent attorney, and the two families were quite friendly when Fessenden and the Wolfes both lived in Chestnut Hill. However, at that time, Fessenden was working principally on devices for underwater exploration and submarine detection, having left the radio business when he split from NESCO. Wolfe inherited his father's law business, and read from copies of some of Fessenden's correspondence to his father.
