WPKQ Tower

WPKQ Tower

Quite a few years ago, the erstwhile WMOU-FM Berlin moved up onto Mount Washington with a highly directional antenna and became WZPK, “103-7 Peak FM”. The station was later sold to (what was then) Fuller-Jeffrey, who flipped it to a simulcast of Dover country station WOKQ, with callsign WPKQ. More recently, the community of license was changed from Berlin to North Conway, reflecting the marketing focus of the simulcast on the Mt. Washington Valley. (Berlin is an old mill town on the other side of the notch from most of the tourists and advertising revenue.) This is its tower; the transmitter is located in the nearby Yankee Building.
