Finally, we note the old (now backup) transmitter building of KDFW, which is the largest of the three original buildings. Note also KDFW's weather radar next to the building—in Texas and much of the mid-west, a station's local news operation can't be taken seriously without one. While we're at it, we might as well mention that KDFW was the old KRLD-TV—thus, each of the major network-affiliated Dallas-Fort Worth radio stations (WFAA, WBAP, and KRLD) had its own television station (channels 8, 5, and 4, respectively). KDFW was a CBS affiliate going back 45 years, to the beginning of KRLD-TV, but in later years was owned by New World Communications, which was bought out by Fox in 1995. (The CBS affiliation ended up on KTVT, channel 11, formerly an independent.)
