On September 29, 2002, I attended what (at least at the time) looked like it would be the very last Montreal Expos game, ever. It may not turn out that way, but the consensus seems to be that the team's days in Montreal are numbered, unless a local sugar daddy can be found -- which seems unlikely, even among the local media organizations whose cooperation would be essential to the team's survival. The time I spent in and around Olympic Stadium (or ``The Big Owe'' as it is colloquially known) made clear that it was a horrendous facility for baseball. Many of the advertising opportunities in the stadium were taken agencies of the various levels of government (federal, provincial, and city), suggesting that the meagre attendance of recent seasons had discouraged businesses from supporting the team in that way.
In addition to your editor, Scott Fybush and one of his friends from the Rochester Numismatic Association also attended. It was thus inevitable that our free time in the city before and after the game be taken up with radio-related matters, and hence this photo gallery is presented for your enjoyment. We only visited those sites which we had -- for one reason or another -- been unable to visit our previous time through Montreal, which was chronicled in Tower Site of the Week some time ago.
