Part of the Spring Trip 2009 series.
The third day in our trip was jam-packed. In addition to tours of Bonneville's Phoenix facilities, which took much of the day, in late afternoon we made the two-hour drive down to Tucson. Conveniently, our hotel in Tucson was close to several of the important AM sites, so even with a late start we were still able to see a good deal during daylight hours. We went to El Charro, Tucson's heritage Mexican restaurant, for dinner that night. The following day, we were able to see nearly all that remained (except for the mountaintop TV/FM sites) in Tucson, and have lunch with Barry Mishkind, before making the four-hour haul across to El Centro in California's Imperial Valley where we spent Friday night and Saturday morning.
I'm not going to write a lot about the history of the Tucson market—see Barry's Tucson History pages for the important details.
